How To Install

How to Install Your Vinyl Decal

Installing your new Locally Hated decal is quick and easy. Follow the steps below for the best results.

Before You Start

You'll Need

  • A clean microfibre cloth
  • Masking tape (optional)
  • A plastic squeegee or credit card wrapped in a soft cloth
  • Patience!

Important: Install your decal in a clean, dry area out of direct sunlight.

Recommended installation temperature:
15°C–30°C

Step 1 – Clean the Surface

Thoroughly clean the area where your decal will be applied.

Remove:

  • Dirt
  • Dust
  • Wax
  • Polish
  • Grease
  • Water spots

The cleaner the surface, the better your decal will stick.

Step 2 – Position the Decal

Hold the decal in place and use masking tape if needed to position it exactly where you want it.

Stand back and check that it is straight before continuing.

Step 3 – Apply the Decal

Peel the backing paper away slowly, leaving the decal attached to the transfer tape.

Carefully place the decal onto the surface.

Using your squeegee or wrapped credit card, firmly press from the centre outwards to remove any air bubbles.

Take your time.

Step 4 – Remove the Transfer Tape

Wait 1–2 minutes.

Slowly peel the clear transfer tape back at a sharp angle.

If any part of the decal lifts, press it back down firmly and wait another minute before trying again.

Step 5 – Final Check

Run the squeegee over the decal once more.

Small bubbles usually disappear naturally within a few days.

After Installation

For the best results:

  • Avoid washing your vehicle for 24–48 hours
  • Do not pressure wash directly at the edges of the decal
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals on the decal

With proper care, your premium outdoor vinyl decal will provide years of great-looking performance.
